Sidewalk Chalk Water Bombs

Tomorrow is my kids last day of school. Summer break is what kids and moms look forward too all school year. No homework, no schedules, days at the pool it’s what make summer great. Until we reach this point and then we moms start to panic cause we know while summer is freedom it is full of “bored” kids and fighting about screen time while trying to push them outside to play.
Here’s an activity they are going to want to go outside for, no fighting required. Sidewalk Chalk Water Bombs combine two of my kids favorite outside activities – sidewalk chalk and water balloons.
I picked up this water balloon pumper at Michaels, and everything else you’ll need is probably in your kitchen. Whether you’re looking for fun décor, activities for your kids or cute party supplies, Michaels has everything you need to MAKE summer fun!
Ingredients:
- water balloons
- cornstarch
- food coloring
- water
Mix cornstarch and food coloring in the pumper and then use it to fill up the water balloons, just like you would if it was full of water. The recipe isn’t an exact science, I added about 5 tablespoons of cornstarch to half of the bottle full of water and as many drops of food coloring as I felt it needed. You’ll want it to be fairly intense.
Let your kids throw them to decorate the driveway.
You could also lay a hula hoop on the ground and have a target toss challenge. It take a little longer to cruise through all of the balloons this way.
