Chalkboard Inspired Spring Block
Hello! It’s Ginger from GingerSnapCrafts.com, & I am so excited to be here at The Crafting Chicks. I’m also excited to be bringing you an easy chalkboard inspired spring block tutorial. I don’t know about you, but I am so ready for spring to be here! Even if it’s a little bit cold outside we can always bring a little bit of spring into our home. Hopefully the outside weather will get the hint & catch up soon. 😉 I also love the look of chalkboard but without the mess. So this project was perfect! Keep reading to see how easy this spring block was to put together.
You’ll need a few supplies to get started:
digital craft cutter (I used my Silhouette CAMEO.)
vinyl lettering (I found this spring wreath image in the Silhouette online store.)
chalkboard paint
brush
wood block (My block was about 10 inches by 9 inches.)
This really is so easy to put together. If you didn’t have to wait for the paint to dry you could put it together in under 10 minutes. ha! 😉
After you paint your block (I used 2 coats of paint.) & your paint is dried you’ll apply your vinyl. Applying vinyl is super easy. Vinyl comes on a backing paper with clear transfer paper on top. You carefully remove the backing paper. Flip it over onto the wood block right were you want to apply your vinyl decal (transfer paper on top). Then gently rub the transfer paper with your hand. Slowly lift your transfer paper off leaving your vinyl on the wood. It’s amazing! I applied the spring wreath vinyl first. I made sure I left some room for the “hello spring” at the bottom of my block.
I found the “hello” in the Silhouette online store, & I cut the “spring” out using a font from my computer. Apply those along the bottom of your block.
That’s it! I love the contrast of the black & white, and the wreath is too cute!
I think I am ready to say “hello” to spring! How about you? 😉
You can check out more of my spring inspired projects over on my blog. Enjoy!
Thanks for having me over. 🙂
