Water Gun Painting
Hi there! I’m Lacey from Lacey Placey (your DIY spacey) see what I did there? I’m obsessed with colorful DIY’s especially ones that make your home a little prettier!
Today I’m so excited to share a fun and pretty DIY with you. My kids went crazy for this Water Gun Painting. It’s perfect for a hot Summer day. And don’t underestimate the beauty and art that can come from these water gun painting master pieces! I framed mine and I’m so in love.
So let’s get to the tutorial!
Supplies Needed:
- Squirt guns
- Water
- Your favorite paint (I love Deco Art craft paints!)
- Soap/Sanitizer pump dispenser
DIRECTIONS:
- Pour about 1/2 cup of water into a cup and squirt in a couple heavy squirts of the craft paint.
- Stir well with a spoon.
- Grab your soap or hand sanitizer dispenser and use to it put the paint into the water gun. You will need to push that little plastic water holder out of the way the best you can. You could also try using a medicine syringe but I found this to work much better with less mess. It goes fast once you get in the groove.
- Put plastic closure piece back into gun hole.
- Shake gun well and set aside.
- Label the guns so you know what color is in each. I skipped this step by matching the paint to the guns to begin with.
- Have your kids wear clothes that aren’t important or that won’t matter if they get stained. We actually didn’t have any paint spills but I could see this turning into a big paint war!
- Hang your card stock on the fence or put it on the grass and let the kids (or you) go at it!
Who knew these would turn out so pretty? I had to pick my favorite and frame it!
it’s the perfect addition to my bedroom!
Good luck painting!
Hello! I was just wondering where I can go to find the Mother Hen Summer Survival Series for 2017?! Have you launched it yet? Is this a part of the series? I just wanted to know the schedule of themes for each week and where to go to find the activities to do with my kids. I have LOVED following it for the last two summers and can’t wait to start the one for this summer! Thanks for all your hard work!
Hi Amber!
We are in the middle of it right now. You can start with this post and scroll back to last week. We are so glad that you like it!
Thanks! I am a bit confused because usually I have seen what theme you are planning on for each week of Summer, and I can not find that now. Is there a place for me to see the Summer schedule? Or are you not doing an actual theme for each week this Summer? I scrolled back to last week and wasn’t quite sure what to look for. Do you have printables and activities that go with certain themes or just posts with different fun Summer ideas? Sorry to be trouble for you. 🙁
We do have themed weeks this year. I think we must have just forgotten to get that main post ready. Ha. Sorry. We’ll get working on that. In the meantime, last week was Nature, this week is Water Play/Fun, and next week is Gardening. We’ll get the other themes out there for you soon. Thanks!
Thanks so much! Your Mother Hen Summer Survival Series is THE BEST! 🙂

I have done t-shirts this way at a family reunion..the adults had just as much fun as the kids
That sounds like so much fun! I might have to try that.
