My son is in a Ninja Turtles loving phase. For his playgroup this month, we had to make some DIY Ninja Turtle Ornaments! It may be because of the new movie that just came out, but we can’t seem to get enough of Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael. The mutant mayhem has certainly set in this holiday season. These heroes in a half shell are going to not only have street battles, but they are going to take over my sons mini Christmas tree.
It was so easy and fun to make these. I want to share with you how we made them.

To make your own Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle ornaments, gather the following supplies:
- Green ornament balls
- Ribbon 1/2 in wide in Blue, Red, Orange, & Purple. If you do Large ornament balls, you will of course want wider ribbon and bigger eyes.
- Hot Glue or Elmer’s Glue
- Google Eyes (ones that fit inside your ribbon)
How to Make DIY Ninja Turtle Ornaments
This project couldn’t be easier! In just a few steps, you’ll have your favorite turtle heroes hanging proudly on your Christmas tree.
- Prepare your ornament base.
Start with plain green ornaments — this will represent the turtles’ faces. Wipe off any dust or residue so the ribbon and glue stick easily. - Add the turtle masks.
Cut your ribbon into strips long enough to wrap around the center of each ornament. Use orange mask for Michelangelo, red mask for Raphael, blue mask for Leonardo, and purple mask for Donatello. String glue around the middle of the ornament ball. Wrap the ribbon around the ornament like a mask and tie the two 3 inch piece ends together in a double knot.(Tip: If your ribbon has frayed edges, lightly melt them with a lighter to seal the ends.) - Attach the eyes.
Glue two small googly eyes onto the ribbon near the front of the ornament. This step instantly brings your Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle to life! - Let it dry completely.
Set your finished ornaments aside to cool and dry before hanging them.
That’s it — your DIY Ninja Turtle ornaments are ready to shine!
You’ll of course want an ornament with a orange mask, blue mask, red mask and purple mask so you have a complete 4-pack of turtles.

Decorating Ideas
These Christmas tree ornaments look amazing grouped together on your family tree or even displayed as a garland. Try pairing them with other fun holiday decor — think comic-style wrapping paper, cityscape ornaments, or even mini pizza slice decorations for that classic Mutant Mayhem vibe.

I LOVE THIS… PINNING!
Sooo cute!
What size balls did you use with the 1/2 inch ribbon?
Used photo corners instead of glue to secure the ribbon and adhesive eyes and it became a no glue project so easy it was crazy
I’m going to make these for my 30 year old son and my 32 year old daughter! They’ve been Ninja Turtle fans since their debut! Thank you for sharing this wonderful idea! Merry Christmas!
