During the summer months, I’m always up for a cold treat. When I’m ready for my mid-day snack I always end up wanting something sweet which doesn’t always equate to being healthy. Its like, I go to the store for some organic vegetables and I always come home with regular ice-cream. Weird. So, when my boys and I went cherry picking in my neighbors orchard, (no, we aren’t creepers…they invited us,) it was the perfect chance to make something healthy AND yummy! Frozen Cherry Yogurt Pops!
When I was growing up my mom always made these yogurt pops and I thought I would give them a little twist using the cherries.
INGREDIENTS:
-Fresh cherries, preferably ones from your friendly neighbor
-About 2 cups vanilla yogurt
-1 small tub of Cool Whip
Start by pitting all your cherries and throwing them in your food processor. Get them nice and chopped up.
Next, throw your cherries and all your other ingredients into a large mixing bowl. Stir until mixed.
Then spoon it into your popsicle molds. I like to use those little mini shot-glass sized plastic cups because…they’re cuter. 🙂 Plus these tend to melt faster than regular popsicles so having them in smaller portions helps with mess control.
Keep them in the freezer for a few hours until completely frozen and serve!
And try to keep little hands away until you are done taking pictures. 😉 My kids were so anxious to try one of these they were like vultures circling my shoot!
Enjoy! Do you remember the Frozen Pink Lemonade Pie I shared last year? That was one of my very first posts for the chicks. Ah…the good ole days. 🙂
