Christmas Advent Calendar Ideas
We shared some fun & meaningful ways to Countdown to Christmas on Fox 13’s The Place yesterday and we’ve rounded up all of the ideas for you here today!
Your family will love these! It’s fun to mix it up and implements a new advent idea for each year. Many of these contain free printables. These ideas show ways to serve, grow as a family, enjoy the holiday season, and help bring the true spirit of Christmas into your home.
1. A Christmas Service Countdown
Here you will find free printable strips to add to any countdown. Each day we will be choosing a “Service” idea out of our advent calendar. I’m sharing my ideas with you (28 ideas) but you can make this work for your family/community needs. I knew we needed this when I kept hearing “I want” & “I need.” I realized that this is a good year to teach my children to think more about our Savior and his example for us…& why Christmas is important to us.
Family Fun Christmas Countdown:
Go sledding/ice skating, make a Christmas craft, make a home made ornament, family service project, make hot cocoa, pajama/waffle day, list what you are grateful for, make a treat to share with others, decorate Christmas cookies, go see the lights, go caroling, watch a Christmas movie, read Christmas stories, sing Christmas songs by the tree, listen to the Nativity story, write letters to Santa, build a gingerbread house, build a snowman with daddy, visit Santa, make Christmas cards, and some activities to help us remember the true meaning of Christmas & FREE printable numbers to add to your countdown.
Christmas Stocking Garland Advent Calendar. I found these adorable mini stockings at Target last year and knew they would be perfect for a sweet garland to hang on your mantle or stair case. Add little service strips or family activity ideas into each stocking to complete the Christmas Countdown.
Family Service Countdown Idea:
Our family loves to Countdown to Christmas. I love watching how excited my kids get! This year we are trying to make our countdown more meaningful for our family. We will be doing 25 Days of Family service in our home. Each of us will serve our family members throughout the month!
What is your favorite way to countdown to Christmas with your family? We would love to hear!
