Office/Craftroom Tour

I’ve shared parts of my office with you before, but I don’t think I’ve ever taken you on a tour of the finished room. You might remember when we painted the filing cabinets and installed the desk, or when I recovered my office chair back here. The good news is we still love our desk system as much as ever and the office chair is still kicking.
One side of the desk is the computer station and where I spend my nights. And the other houses my sewing machine, and when the sewing machine is put away my husband sets up his laptop in the area.
A closer look at the sewing machine end of the room. I’m so excited for the peg system. It has taken way longer than it should have to find the energy to get this office put completely together.
Finding a system to keep everything organized and easily accessible has been a challenge. But I picked up some containers from Michael’s. Two good things about these are 1. they are clear and let me see what’s inside so I can get exactly what I’m going for on the first try and 2. allow a lot of stacking. Which is the only way to keep craft supplies under control if you ask me! There’s only so many square feet to fill before you have to go up!

Did you create your sewing/computer desk? If so, where did you find the components (The drawers and the desktop)?
I found the filing cabinets at a the university surplus store. When I was checking out I mentioned needing a countertop to complete them and the guy said they had 2 out back for $5. I scored the whole setup for just $50 and it was all brand new!
Did you put any braces or 2×8’s under the countertop or was the countertop sturdy enough to hold your sewing machine?
The countertop is sturdy enough to hold the sewing machine (and everything else I toss on it).
