Scripture Reading Chart 2015

scripturechart_web

This is the 4th year we’ve shared the Scripture Reading Chart and many of you have been asking for one for 2015!

You can read Kirsten’s experiences and advice for 2012, 2013, and 2014. If this is your first year using the chart, here are some tips to help it become successful for your family!

SECRETS TO OUR SUCCESS:

  1. BE ACCOUNTABLE: This is the BEST SECRET of them all, I tell ya…use this one page CALENDAR CHART that represents the whole year!!!!!! A gap on our reading chart iss enough to muster up the umph to read each night, and how we didn’t anticipate that we would be motivated by that, but it worked.
  2. USE COLORED STICKERS & make it a game: This was also a main key for us. The child that was the most well-behaved got to choose the sticker for the chart that night. This was a major motivator for our kids.
  3. CHOOSE THE SAME TIME EACH DAY TO READ: For us, the time of day we chose wasn’t exactly at a specific specific time, but right before bed which was around the same time each night. If you can choose the same time each day that works best for your family, you are really setting yourselves up for success.
  4. KEEP YOUR EXPECTATIONS LOW: Ok this is one of those times that low expectations are GREAT. The kids are going to be rowdy, mean, ornery, and not want to do it at times…hang in there :). There should be a level of respect while reading, from my point of view, but it’s not going to be perfect. Sometimes the best things are HARD, until it’s a habit.

Besides daily scripture reading you can also keep track of your Family Home Evenings with the hearts and temple attendance with the months at the bottom.

  1. HI Sister,

I absolutely love the scripture calendar. Just wandering if you have an editable version? or if you have a version that says “consistency ‘is’ the key”

  2. Thank you SO much for this. I found last year’s somehow (pin? blog post? no idea), and I’m SO glad I did. We started late and eventually got lazy about putting our stickers up, but it was a start! We had been doing family prayers, but it was great to add scripture study and become more consistent with both AND FHE. It is so nice to hear the conference talks about how important those things are and know now that we are doing them. I am excited to start fresh in 2015 and may even print one out for each of the families in our primary (I’m the pres.).

    Thanks again!

  3. Thank you! We used your 2014 version this last year and I loved how it kept us accountable! My kids LOVED putting the stickers on. My husband will be giving copies to his home teaching families. Looking forward to using this years!

  4. Found this last year and love it! It has made a huge difference in our scripture study as a family. Thanks for continuing to make these charts! THANK YOU!!!

(Just wanted to let you know that the downloadable of the 16 by 20 doesn’t have the hearts on the left side of the page.)

  5. My family (me, hubby, 7, 6, 3 and 1 year old) began a daily scripture reading at bedtime on Dec 1 2014 after i saw something on pintrest. Everyone really enjoyed it (most nights). Now that christmas has past i no longer have a list of readings. I have been searching for a list of the 2015 daily scripture readings and came across this. First of all, I am wondering if you have the daily scriptures somewhere. i would like to keep it short since the ages of my children are still very young. I am also wondering a few things about your chart…do you use this to keep track of how many times you do a reading and the “family home evenings” hearts??? is your goal to be home one evening per week….i think i am behind. I love the ideas just hoping for a little more guidance. Thanks so much for any help.

    1. Hi Elizabeth! We set aside 1 night a week to spend together with our family. Typically we use this time to go over our activities for the week, have a short lesson and play games together. We end with a treat and it is something we look forward to each week!

  6. Thank you for posting these. My family used the 2014 calendar and now we have the habit of family prayer and scripture study! I also used our calendar for a primary sharing time lesson. In 2015 I’m going to focus on getting myself into the habit of daily scripture and prayer. Thank you again!

  7. Nikkala-

Thank you so much for this! I’ve used this in years past and it’s really helped our family.
Is there any way to get a jpg of this? I like to print it out BIG at costco on their foam board, but they only accept jpegs!
Would you be willing to share that? Promise I won’t alter it or use it for anything else but to print it out! 🙂
    Thanks so much!

  8. I have been using and LOVING this chart for the past 2 years in my own family. I am currently the primary president in my ward and am trying to come up with a Christmas gift for the kids in my ward, and as I walked past our chart I thought that something like this might be perfect to go along with next year’s theme, which is “I Know The Scriptures Are True.” I have 0 creativity and design sense, and wondered if you would be interested in designing a calendar for our primary with the theme included. I would be willing to pay you for your time. Thanks!

    1. Hi Kim, When would you need it by? I think that is a great idea! We create a new calendar every year so it shouldn’t be a problem getting one for you to use.

      1. I’ll check with my counselors to see if that is the route we want to go, but I wouldn’t need it until December-ish. I’m just trying to get things planned out so my December isn’t so chaotic! Thanks!

  9. Hi Kim, I too would like a calendar for my Primary. I will be doing Sharing Time in January 2016 and will be introducing the new theme of “I Know the Scriptures Are True”. I can’t think of a better visual to hand out to the children than this calendar along with some stickers. Thank you. If you could let me know when it is ready to download, I’d love that!!
