{‘Thanks’ Board-Display What You Are Thankful For}
I love Thanksgiving! I love that it is a holiday where we don’t get or give gifts or treats. I love that it is just a holiday to enjoy family and think of all of the wonderful things we have to be thankful for. Oh, and all of the absolutely delicious yummy food! I love that part too. 🙂
I wanted my children to really think about what they are thankful for, so I made this ‘Thanks’ board to hang in our family room thoughout the year. I didn’t use the typical Thanksgiving fall colors, because I wanted it to fit in with my decor since I am leaving it up.
To make this, you will need:
-A wood board
-Wooden or chipboard letters (I used chipboard)
-Coordinating scrapbook paper
-Small clothespins
-Thin wire
-Paint
-Mog Podge
I started by painting my board. I mixed a dark brown with white and got kind-of a taupe color.
Next, I Mod Podged a piece of the scrapbook paper onto each of my letters and cut around them using a craft knife. This part is always a little tricky. Just remember to used a really good cutting board, so you can push down hard.
Then, I Mod Podged the fronts of all of my letters. When they were dry, I went around the edges of my letters with sandpaper to make them look a little worn and distressed.
I used my hot glue gun to stick the letters onto my board. I chose the word ‘Thanks’, but you could use any Thanksgivingy word you can think of. 🙂
I painted my clothespins black, so they would look good with my lettering. I took some of my wire and hung it across the bottom of my board. It was so simple, I just put a flat tack on each bottom side of the back of the board and wrapped the wire around it a couple of times. Finally, I hung my clothespins on the wire.
I put a couple of photos of my family on the board (that is what I am most thankful for) and I let my kids all draw something that they are thankful for to hang. They loved doing this and are so excited to see their pictures hanging.

I’m in 100% agreement about Thanksgiving. I love being surrounded by family, catching up, reminiscing, and creating new memories.
We don’t actually display our thankfulness, but we do go around the table and share at least one thing we’re thankful for as part of our mealtime prayer.

This is soo cute to do as project for November! I did a “Give Thanks” tree last year where I cut a few branches out of the tree in the front yard & then cut all sorts of leaf shapes from my cutting machine & everyday around Breakfast & Dinner we had to say what we were thankful for & hang it on the branches. When others came over for a visit they were asked to do the same! My kids loved it & this will be a new great way for them to display what they are thankful for! Thanks for sharing this idea with us!

I was thinking this would make a great display for Christmas cards…with a more “Christmassy” word, of course! I was thinking maybe “Noel.” Also, would be cute for a kids room with their name on it, to display artwork or school papers. Thanks for the great idea!

I love this idea for so many reasons! Besides what you have suggested, I think it could be incorporated for other holidays or just for general decor (I love signs but have never wanted to indulge in the whole stencil thing). Thanks for sparking my imagination this AM!~TJ
