Back to School Goal Setting Tic-Tac-Toe

Kick the new school year off to a good start with these adorable Back to School Goal Setting Tic-Tac-Toe printables. Make goal setting a game with this fun free printable.

Each new school year brings such a feeling of excitement. I like to capitalize on that excitement my kids feel by challenging them to make goals for themselves.

Of course, that excitement fades a bit as each week of school passes. So this year we decided to try this super fun Back to School Goal Setting Tic-Tac-Toe. It makes goal setting more of a game. And they get to challenge other siblings.

Each kids will fill in a Tic-Tac-Toe square with different goals. We like to have the parents choose 3-4 goals for each child too. Some good goal ideas are (depending on age):

Read “x” number of books by certain date
Memorize multiplication facts
Learn letter sounds
Share with others
Learn 5 site words
Increase fluency rate
Work on penmanship
Wake up on time
Get ready on my own
Do homework nightly
Go to bed on time
Eat Healthy food
Find a new friend
Help pack lunches
Keep Backpack clean
Put Backpack away after school

Once each square is filled in, you need to set a time frame for the family so the kids know when these goals need to be accomplished. Make sure that they don’t shoot for the stars for these goals. They need to be something they can accomplish by a certain date. Our Back to School Goal Setting Tic-Tac-Toe usually last through 1 quarter of the school year. So we will redo these 4 times through the school year.

As the kids pass of the goals have them cross them out. If you see that they are doing really well at something you can tell them to cross it off as well.

Have a prize ready for them once they get Tic-Tac-Toe.

The kids can take the goals that they still need to work on and add that to the next Tic-Tac-Toe goal sheet for next quarter, and add in some new ideas.
