Apple Themed Lunch for Back to School
Back to school isn’t such a bummer with this fruity Apple Themed Lunch! From apple shaped cheese to fresh apple slices to crispy apple chips, kids will love this all about apples lunch!
Hi everyone! I’m Keri from Shaken Together and I love stopping by each month to share a little something fun with you! This month, I’ll be sharing an extra post as part of the awesome Summer Mother Hen series, so keep your eyes peeled for a little fun on the farm 😉
Now, whether you have a kindergartner headed off for their first year of school or a kiddo returning to school, you can celebrate the upcoming academic year with this cute themed lunch!
Here is what I used for our apple themed lunch:
- An apple shaped sandwich – ours was peanut butter and apple butter
- Apple slices + peanut butter (use an alternate nut butter, Nutella, caramel, yogurt, etc. for dipping for littles with peanut allergies)
- Apple chips
- Apple shaped cheese
- Apple juice
To make the apple shaped sandwich, use a veggie straw or pretzel stick for the apple stem. Then, tuck in a small piece of kale or lettuce for the apple leaf. Our bread just happened to have a pretty natural apple shape 🙂
To make the apple shaped cheese, use a small cookie cutter to cut out the apple shapes from cheese slices. You can use the apple shapes and the squares with the apple cut out to pack more than one lunch.
Need more ideas? I’ve brainstormed a few more apple items that you could serve with your lunch:
- Pretzel Apple Bites
- Apple sauce cup or pouch
- Apple cinnamon breakfast bar
- Apple fruit roll up
- Caramel Apple Munch Mix
- Apple snack cake
- Apple cinnamon cereal
- Apple Sandwich Stacks
- Apple flavored grahams, puffs or cookies
I also wrapped a spoon, fork and striped paper straw (with a green washi tape leaf) in colorful napkins and added a strip of ruler paper to add a little more apple and school themed fun to lunch.
This apple themed lunch is easy to pack up for a picnic lunch after meet the teacher day, to nibble on after an afternoon spent picking apples in the orchard or even for a first day of school surprise!
