Chocolate Pudding Layer Dessert

This Chocolate Pudding Layer Dessert is one of our family favorites. I especially love it in the Spring and Summertime! I am sure this recipe is floating out there, but it is too yummy for anyone to miss out on so I thought I would share. It has three layers of goodness: a pecan crust, a cream cheese layer, and a chocolate pudding layer. Just a warning:: It does take some refrigeration so make sure to leave yourself enough time. Enjoy!

Chocolate Pudding Layer Dessert

Mix pecans, flour, and butter and press into a 9×13 pan.
Bake at 300 for 20-25 minutes. Cool.

Blend whipped topping, cream cheese and powdered sugar. Spread over cooled crust. Refrigerate 2 or more hours.

Mix pudding, milk, and vanilla with an electric mixer on low speed until mixture begins to thicken.

Spread on top of cream cheese layer and refrigerate overnight or for several hours.

Garnish with a grated candy bar.

Makes 10-12 servings.

ENJOY!!

    1. I almost did add the cool whip on top. I’ll have to try it next time to see what I think. Thanks. I love the white chocolate and strawberries idea too.

  3. One morr variation, in the summer I use white chocolate pudding instead of the regular chocolate. Then I put a layer of fresh strawberries, then cool whip. It is a lighter summer version and really yummy!!

  4. For YEARS we have been making this with Lemon pudding for all our family functions. Using chocolate never occured to me. I cant wait to try it!!! Thanks

  5. This is one of our favorites too. And for non-nut people…..it works really well with a Graham Cracker crust as well. Still yummy. No nuts. (It doesn’t change the fact that I, personally, am nuts….but that’s neither here nor there!)

  6. Yet another variation….top the cream cheese layer with pie filling instead of pudding. (cherry is my favorite) You can then top that layer with whipped cream or leave the pie filling as the top layer. A sugar cookie crust is also a great alternative. I personally would stick with the nut crust….pecans are my favorite. :o)

  7. This looks so good!! Thanks for sharing the recipe!! BTW-Becky you won the giveaway for voting!! Just email me and we’ll work out the details-congrats!!

  8. We’ve been making this recipe for years – with one change – we use one box of vanilla instant pudding mix and one of chocolate. It cuts down a little on the chocolate flavor so the cream cheese flavor comes through better.

  9. My sister-in-law calls it “better than sex”. I love this dessert but I think those who name it something like this need to re-evaluate what they are doing in the bedroom.

  10. I have been making this for years, I get a large container of cool whip and then add half on top of the chocolate pudding and sprinkle with chopped pecans. Enjoy it is truly delightful.
