Easter Basket Kid Craft
Create the cutest Easter Basket Kid Craft this spring! I am so excited to share with you today one of our favorite DIY Easter Basket projects for kids. I’ve teamed up with Oriental Trading to bring you this easy and fun kid’s craft!
They have the best Easter craft supplies. We always love ordering our colorful foam sheets from Oriental Trading.
My creative mom, who taught elementary school for 30 years, created these Easter baskets with her students each year. Luckily, I was able to learn from her and used this craft in both my 1st grade class and preschool classes!
Kids will love being able to craft up their own mini basket, and fill it with Easter goodies! It’s the perfect craft to do at home and such a fun and happy spring activity.
What You’ll Need to Create an Easter Basket Kid Craft:
- Colorful Foam Sheets
- Scissors
- Brads (metal fasteners)
- Easter Grass
- Mini plush bunnies
- Flower Easter Eggs
- Pre-Filled Easter Eggs
How to Create a Easter Basket Kid Craft:
Step 1
Cut strips from two colors of foam sheets. Strips should be 8.5 x 11 by 1 inch. Cut 5 strips from one color, and 6 strips from another bright color.
Step 2
Fun Weaving Part! Have kids weave the strips together. Over…under…over…under until all 9 strips are together. Set aside one stripe of each color for the basket handle.
Step 3
Choose one end of strips (same color) and attach all of the strips together with a metal fastener.
Step 4
Repeat this step with the same color of strips on the opposite side.
Step 5
Repeat step 4 on the other color of strips until all ends are fastened.
Step 6
Add one strip on one side and fasten with a metal fastener.
Step 7
Repeat this step on the other 3 sides. Until you have two overlapping handles (crossing like an X on top).
Step 8
Add a metal fastener to the middle-top of the basket to attach the two handles together.
Look at the adorable color combinations! Kids will feel so great knowing they created their own “basket” with weaving and all!!
Add Easter grass in each basket.
Add little surprises like plush mini bunnies, flower shaped Easter eggs, and colorful pre-filled Easter eggs.
Use these baskets as decor for any party! A perfect kid made centerpiece!
