Great Room Design

We recently built a house. It was overwhelming to say the least. Now that we are settled and enjoying our new space, I’m realizing it was worth all the work and time.

When designing my great room and kitchen, I was so fortunate to work with my dear friend Sita Montgomery from Sita Montgomery Designs. Her instagram is my favorite…full of pretty inspiration for design.

I am excited to reveal our great room today.

I have always loved Sita’s designs and the spaces she creates in other homes and so it was so fun to watch her work her magic on our great room design.

We use the great room for our family the most. I’m in this space 90% of the time, so I wanted this space to get the most attention. Sita also knew I had a smaller budget and was able to find some amazing items to fit in that budget.

I chose white cabinets…I may be crazy with four kids running around, but I love how bright and light it makes the space. The white I chose is Pure White from Sherwin Williams. Very similar to Dove White by Benjamin Moore.

I also wanted lots of built-in storage space. I love the cabinets and drawers to hide all of our family items.

Sita is the queen of shelf styling. I had the best time watching her work her “shelfie” skills in my great room. I LOVE this space!

I love the navy, coral, and pops of green, on a neutral canvas.

I was nervous about adding gold, but Sita did the best job choosing gold touches. And…you CAN mix silver and gold. Sita does it all the time. I also love the trays she styled throughout the space.Pillows and accessories really make the room!
I love the Flutter Watercolor print from Minted, picked out for the space. Its so pretty on my white mantle. The X transoms are one of my favorite features of my Great room space and Kitchen. I can’t wait to make memories in this space with my family.
