We are so excited to have Camille from My Mommy Style guest post today. I LOVE this room she is sharing! It is beautiful and HAPPY {just like the pillow says}, and reminds me of all the colors of spring! What a lucky little lady! Hi there! My name is Camille and I blog at MyMommyStyle.com, a blog dedicated to sharing different styles in food, fashion, family, and fun. It is such an honor to be guest posting here for The Crafting Chicks. I admire their craftiness and can tell you they are beautiful women inside and out. When they said they wanted a guest post revolving around “Spring Fever” I knew I had to share my daughter’s recently finished “big girl room.” We recently added a third baby to our family and it was time to move her out of the crib and into a room of her own.

You could say I’ve been planning her room in pieces for a while but I was so inspired by the colors of Spring and new blossoms! Thank goodness Winter is finally over! I was nervous about having Jayne come out of her crib because nap time is precious, and let’s face it…when the crib goes sometimes the naps do too. I waited until I found the bed that was just the right fit and didn’t move her over to it until she was almost three years old!

I am sucker for a good deal and always decorate on a budget…so when I found this Pottery Barn queen size bed for just under $200 at DownEast Home I knew I had to grab it. Yes, it is a little large for a three year old…but I figure it will be her bed for the rest of her time in my home and it is a classic beauty. And let’s be honest, that price just cannot be beat. If you have a DownEast Home close to where you live keep your eyes peeled for their Summer tent sell…it is by far the best time to snag big furniture pieces for a steal!

I must have a thing for Pottery Barn because I was also inspired by their quilt found HERE, but I wanted to use fabrics of my own that matched the Wall Art I made for my daughter’s room. I wanted something Springy and feminine that wan’t too “babyish” or too grown up. By mixing and matching on Fabric.com and some of my favorite prints by Riley Blake I think I was able to find the perfect fit for me. When decorating a room you always want to find an inspirational piece to base your decor around. So I picked these fabrics out AFTER I had made the paintings on her wall. You can find the tutorial for that HERE.

My daughter also has an obsession for Minnie Mouse, I am talking OBSESSED. I wanted to pull her love for all things Minnie into the room without making it look too commercial and that is when I found these “oops” pillow forms from DownEast Home (again via Pottery Barn) that were just a few dollars a piece. Because I am lucky and my Mother is incredibly talented she was able to cover the names with these adorable embroidered faces of Minnie and Mickey Mouse. I should mention that she is also the genius behind piecing the quilt together. I sewed all of the gathers on the pieces of fabric, and she put it all together and finished off the quilt. I like to think it will be a blanket that will bring memories for years to come of us creating together. **Happiness and yellow pillows were found at Home Goods.

Before I started my daughter’s room I knew that I wanted to do some vinyl on the wall. I love the idea of being able to add pattern, but easily remove it from the wall when she or I am ready for something new. You can see what I did with Vinyl in my son’s nursery HERE. For Jayne’s room I pulled in the inspiration of Minnie’s polka dots and the polka dots found on the quilt and placed them randomly on the walls. These were cut by my neighbor…I simply told her what size I would like and we cut them out fast.

This dresser was a steal as well and matched Jayne’s bed perfectly. I found it on ksl.com which is very similar to Craig’s list. I was able to purchase it for only $45 and the previous owner had already added these darling knobs that matched Jayne’s room perfectly.

I’ve always loved this quote from Audrey Hepburn and knew I had to add it to Jayne’s room. It is one that I can see her loving through her tween and even teen years. The dress was her blessing dress knitted by her loving Great Aunt Pat. As you can see I am surrounded by some pretty talented ladies!

This is Jayne’s “gallery wall” above her bookshelf. The “Life is a beautiful Ride” print is one of my favorites found from Yellow Bungalow Shop. The magnet board was found at the DI (like Salvation Army), I thought this would be a fun way to display different pictures through the years without having to worry about frames. The tree was found on Facebook in a local neighborhood group where we sell each other items we aren’t using any more. I love how it all came together.

This nightstand and lamp also came from the same facebook group that I am a part of. Major find, right!? If I consider all of the pieces that I put together it probably took about a year! I was patient, knowing exactly what I was looking for, and I waited for the right price. This side table and lamp were $35.

The “J” in the gallery wall above her bed was simply made with some left over fabric and a glue gun. I like to use items that I already have lying around and sometimes it actually works out!
